A Case of 1 Ib S - Alpha Thalassemia Disease
نویسنده
چکیده
S ICKLE CELL-THALASSEMIA DISEASE is known to be a severe or moderately severe type of congenital hemolytic anemia. The clinical and hematologic pictures of this hemoglobinopathy are usually similar to those found in the intermediate type of Cooley’s anemia; however, mild or asymptomatic cases have been reported by various investigators. 6 Singer et al.1 have described four Negro patients with mild sickle-cell thalassemia disease. In one of the patients, all hematologic indices including the MCV were within norma! limits. Aksoy and Lehmann and later Aksoy reported a total of 11 cases of sickle cell-thalassemia disease among Eti-Turks.45 Also in this community, five individuals were discovered who were heterozygous for thalassemia and hemoglobin S genes and they were neither anemic nor symptomatic.5 In sickle cell-thalassemia disease, the amount of hemoglobin S is highly variable, but it is usually more than 50 per cent. Silvestroni and his associates7 have reported that high values of hemoglobin S ranging between 67.9 and 97.1 per cent are constantly found in this hemoglobinopathy. NeeI2 reported two families in which both genes appeared to be present and hemoglobin analyses revealed that the patients had low hemoglobin A fractions, 22.3 and 36.2 per cent respectively. Aksoy5 also noticed that in two of his patients the

Co-inheritance of --MED double gene deletion and αααAnti3.7 triplication on α-globin gene in Mazandaran at 2016
Alpha Thalassemia is one of the most prevalent disorders worldwide with a [T1] high carrier rate in Mazandaran province (north of Iran). Carriers of --MED double gene deletion are at risk of having a child with hemoglobin haemoglobin[T2] H (HbH) disease, if they marry a silent carrier. Co-inheritance of αααAnti3.7 triplication that cannot be detected using hem...
متن کاملبررسی پراکندگی موتاسیون های آلفا تالاسمی در مزدوجین مشکوک نهایی شهرستان بابلسر 1385 -91
Background and purpose: Alpha thalassemia is one of the most common hemoglobin disorders. Some combination of alpha globin gene mutations may cause HbH disease with severe anemia or intermediate thalassemia. In this study we aimed to determine the spectrum of alpha globin gene mutations especially rare mutation at alpha carrier couples in Babolsar, north of Iran. Discovering this spectrum i...
متن کاملMolecular Basis of α-Thalassemia in Iran
Alpha-thalassemia (α-thal) is probably the most prevalent monogenic condition in the world. Deletions are the most common types of mutations in α-thal, followed by point mutations and small insertion/deletion. In the context of national screening program for prevention of thalassemia and hemoglobinopathies in Iran, α-thal carriers have come to more attention. Therefore, the fr...

There are more than 400 different variations on α-globin protein, and most of them are not associated with noticeable clinical manifestation. Hemoglobin (Hb) is an oxygen-transporting protein and Hb Daneshgah- Tehran is an α-globin variant that for the first time was reported from Iran in a case with normal haematological indices. The capillary electrophoresis of an 8-year- old-girl with normal...
متن کاملFrequency of Celiac Disease in Children with Beta Thalassemia major
Background We aimed to investigate the frequency of celiac disease in children with β-thalassemia major (B-TM) in Shiraz, southern Iran. Materials and Methods In this study, the prevalence of celiac disease in children with B-TM was evaluated. Children with BTM were screened for celiac disease by ant-tissue transglutaminase (anti-tTG) IgA antibody, IgA level and anti-tTG IgG. A total o...
